It was an eventful Super Bowl Sunday for Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver DeVonta Smith. Not only did he and his team secure the franchise's second title in the Super Bowl era, but Smith was instrumental to the Eagles' win.
The 26-year-old wideout caught four passes for 69 yards and a touchdown. His third-quarter touchdown on a 46-yard bomb from Jalen Hurts, which extended Philly's lead to 34-0, was a gut-punch to the Kansas City Chiefs' hopes to win Super Bowl LIX.
Smith's Super Bowl win also secured his place in a unique club in American football history, becoming just the fifth player to win a Heisman Trophy, a college football national championship and a Super Bowl.
The former Alabama Crimson Tide star joined Charles Woodson, Reggie Bush, Tony Dorsett and Marcus Allen in winning all three achievements.
On Tuesday, Woodson shared a congratulatory message to Smith.
"Welcome to the club," said the Pro Football Hall of Famer in a social media post.
In 1997, Woodson won the Heisman Trophy as a member of the Michigan Wolverines. He edged out Peyton Manning to win the award that year and Randy Moss finished fourth. Woodson and the Wolverines were co-national champions that year, splitting the title with Nebraska.

Woodson and the Green Bay Packers won Super Bowl XLV. The four-time first-team All-Pro and nine-time Pro Bowler was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 2018 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2021.
Smith was the Eagles' first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. In his senior season at Alabama, he caught 117 passes for 1,856 yards and 23 touchdowns. He won the Heisman in 2020 over Trevor Lawrence and Mac Jones, who finished second and third in vote totals.
In his four-year NFL career, Smith has 308 receptions for 4,011 yards and 27 touchdowns.
