Below Deck has been a big hit with fans since it premiered, and Captain Lee Rosbach is a major part of that success. However, the famed crew leader had to step away from the series following mobility concerns, and he selected his friend Captain Sandy Yawn from Below Deck Mediterranean to step in and take his place. Now, he’s discussing potentially returning to the series as well as where he stands with his estranged friend.
Below Deck has been around since 2013. Since then, there have been multiple franchises, but Captain Lee will always be remembered as the very first to lead the crew on the show. However, he made the difficult decision to leave in season 10.
Recently, Captain Lee spoke to The Standard and told the outlet that he and Captain Sandy won’t be mending things anytime soon. He said, “You’d probably spend a better chance of seeing God twice in the next 30 seconds than that happening.”
Fans will recall that the feud began when Captain Sandy made a call on his show that he disagreed with, and Captain Lee then publicly bashed her. She then made a cryptic social media post.
The outlet then asked if he thought they could ever fix things. The legendary yacht caption responded, “No, I don’t. I did an interview, and they asked me, point blank, ‘Do you like Captain Sandy?’ And I said, ‘Well, you asked a question, so I’ll give you the honest answer. No, it’s that simple.”
He continued, “I know you asked the question. You want an honest answer? I gave it to you. I don’t feel the need to explain. You know why I don’t, or go into anything in great detail, but let’s just say my wedding invitation got lost in the mail.”
For context, Captain Sandy recently married her longtime partner, but Lee was not invited to the wedding.
Regarding no longer being on the show, he said, “I do miss it. I miss the traveling. I miss the challenges. And there’s certainly no lack of challenges on board, each one unique and different. So, yeah, I do miss it.”
The interviewer then asked if he had been approached about coming back. He explained, “No one has spoken to me about it, and if they would, I would tell you because that’s why they don’t tell me anything. I just can’t keep it to myself.”
Captain Lee remains busy despite no longer being on Below Deck. He hosts a pop culture podcast called Salty, and he also has a true crime show. However, fans would love to see “The Stud of The Seas” make a grand return.
