Dallas Cowboys fans are ready to give up on the team this 2024 season.
Amid a brutal year that saw them tally a 3-5 win-loss record through Week 9 of NFL action, and following the latest news on Dak Prescott opting to undergo season-ending surgery, the Cowboys faithful expressed their belief that it's time for Jerry Jones and the team's top brass to hit the reset button.
On Saturday, Adam Schefter of ESPN broke the news that Prescott is "planning to undergo season-ending surgery on his partially torn hamstring." While the 31-year-old QB is still set to consult one more specialist before making his official decision, the Cowboys' doctors reportedly "already believe he needs the surgery that would sideline him four months."
After the latest update on Prescott's injury surfaced, fans quickly took to social media to demand that the Cowboys start a rebuild, or at least make a quarterback or coaching change.
"That’s official. Lost season for the Cowboys. Onto Bill Belichick!" a fan commented.
Another one said, "Shedeur Sanders is playing right now just saying."
"$60 million / year. Tank, trade Dak. Rebuild defense+ draft new QB," another follower shared, referring to the four-year, $60 million contract Prescott signed in the past offseason.
"Damnnn just blow up the team lmao," a social media user shared. A poster echoed the same sentiment, sharing, "Blow it up cowboys! It is done."
"A rebuilding year for Dallas," a sixth supporter said.
Another one demanded, "TIME TO REBUILD."
The Cowboys have not made it to the Super Bowl since 1995, and that was also the last time they made it to a conference championship. Sure enough, with no end in sight for their title drought, it's no surprise why Dallas' supporters are demanding a change.
It still remains to be seen how the 2024 season will go for the Cowboys without Dak Prescott. Regardless, though, Jerry Jones and the team will certainly need to make some tough decisions come the offseason.
