Brynn Whitfield is leaving The Real Housewives of New York City.

On Monday, June 9, the Bravolebrity announced that she would be departing the series after starring in seasons 14 and 15.

"After a lot of thought, I've made the decision to walk away from reality TV. For now," she wrote in a lengthy statement posted on her Instagram Stories.

"The Real Housewives of New York City will always be one of the most fun, chaotic, and magical chapters of my life. It was the honor of a lifetime to help reboot such an iconic franchise," she explained. "From day one, I've believed RHONY is a fan's show — we're just temporary custodians of something that truly belongs to the viewers."

"I hope I made you laugh (a lot), cry (a little) and more than anything — I hope there's a TV in heaven so that Mimi (who LIVED for her shows) could watch me and be proud," she continued.

Whitfield, 39, said that despite her exit from RHONY she's "just getting started" and she's "never felt more me" than she does on her podcast, Please See Below, and that "all [she wants] to do now is pour every ounce of energy into building" Hoppy, the dating app she co-founded.

Brynn Whitfield announces her exit from 'The Real Housewives of New York City'.

Her announcement follows the explosive season 15 finale and its subsequent two-part reunion. During the Jan. 21 finale, the season-long tension between Whitfield and costar Ubah Hassan finally came to a head.

As the cast vacationed in Puerto Rico, Whitfield told her castmates that she was upset with Hassan for implying Whitfield “slept with someone” to get a role on the Bravo series. She also noted Hassan, 41, said this after Whitfield confided in her about her prior sexual assault.

Hassan then confronted Whitfield, and the latter remarked that Hassan possibly didn’t remember Whitfield’s revelation.

After the finale aired, Whitfield spoke to Rolling Stone and responded to Hassan’s comments about her having sex with someone to get on the show.

“I learned how to negotiate and work my way up, and I worked my ass off. I feel like it’s hurtful as a woman to have my whole career attempted to be diminished and wrongfully equated to something having to do with sex. That’s just crazy to me and offensive,” Whitfield said. “But suggesting something that’s pretty disgusting doesn’t settle well with me."

She also spoke about watching the finale and her claims about Hassan’s knowledge of her past. “It’s not right to assume that everyone remembers everything that you say all the time and then hold them accountable for that. I know for a fact that I said it, but when someone’s screaming into the phone, the other person might not necessarily hear them,” she said.

“You can’t sit here and say that everyone I’ve ever told every single thing to is going to remember it perfectly. I know what I said and I know that I did say it,” she added.

Whitfield confirmed that she “did feel better after the reunion to clear the air on these things.” Adding that although she didn’t think things were “remotely” fixed, she was working to repair her friendships with Sai De Silva, Jessel Taank, and possibly Hassan. She confirmed she still has bonds with Raquel Chevremont, Erin Lichy and Jenna Lyons.

Lyons, 56, explained on Watch What Happens Live the day the finale aired that Whitfield tends to “embellish.”

“I have tenderness around that like I have said this before, like I was one of those kids who, like, lied to get what I wanted because I felt unseen and I didn't feel loved. So I have compassion for that, but I think at some point it kind of went too far, and maybe it turned.”

She also revealed that the cast was feeling “frustrated and a little duped” ahead of the reunion. “When someone's stories turn into putting someone else in a dangerous position or in an unhappy position, that changes the game. That's not what we're here to do, not what the show is about. It's not what we’re about. I think we were all feeling a little protective and scared.”
