Broncos Predicted to Sign Vikings Running Back in Free Agency

The Denver Broncos are in the market for a new starting running back. Whether it's through free agency or the NFL Draft, the Broncos can address that need wherever they see fit.

In an article from Bleacher Report, the Broncos dipped into the free-agent pool. The Broncos were predicted to land former Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones.

Jones is coming off his eighth season in the NFL, where he put up 1,186 rushing yards, the third most he's had in his career. However, his yards-per-attempt were the lowest he's had at 4.4 yards per carry.

Jones isn't just a runner, he also contributes in the passing game as a receiver. Head coach Sean Payton is looking for a "joker" to add to the offense. Jones can fill that role out of the backfield.

Bringing in Jones can be pulled off, thanks to Bo Nix. With Nix on a rookie deal, the Broncos can add players to the offense without cap space factoring into their pursuit of players.

The Broncos' current running back situation is bleak. Javonte Williams had only 542 rushing yards in 2024, while Jaleel McLaughlin and Audric Estime ran for 494 and 310 yards, respectively.

With the prediction from Bleacher Report of Jones signing with the Broncos, Denver addresses their running back need.

Adding Jones would be a great addition to the offense. His rushing and receiving versatility fits exactly what the Broncos are looking for.

If the Bleacher Report prediction comes true, Jones will become the lead back in Denver. Jones would help Nix and give Payton his "joker" option out of the backfield.
