Las Vegas Raiders' star tight end Brock Bowers is expected to be back with the team soon after missing the start of offseason workouts last month.
Bowers shattered three NFL records as a rookie last season after the Georgia product was taken by the Raiders with the No. 13 overall pick in the 2024 draft.
The versatile tight end recorded 112 receptions for 1,194 yards with five touchdowns through all 17 games.
Bowers broke Lions' tight end Sam LaPorta's record for most receptions (86 in 2023) by a rookie at the position. He also surpassed Hall of Famer Mike Ditka (1,076 yards in 1961) for most receiving yards by a rookie tight end, and topped Rams' receiver Puka Nacua (105 in 2023) for most receptions by a rookie in NFL history.
Bowers, coming off a Pro Bowl and First-Team All-Pro season, was not present with the team when offseason workouts began on April 8.
While that absence might have caused some concern among Raiders' faithful, Bowers reportedly had a good reason.
According to Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Bowers returned to the University of Georgia to finish his degree.
And Bowers' mother, DeAnna Bowers, confirmed as much on Friday. She shared a photo of her son in graduation garb standing next to his longtime girlfriend Cameron Rose Newell.
"He did it!" she wrote on X.
It appears that Bowers has completed his finance degree after previously departing UGA as a junior.
Bowers will go down in history as arguably the greatest tight end in Georgia history, if not college football history. He was a three-time All-American and the only player to ever receive the Mackey Award, given to the nation's top tight end, twice.
With Bowers' goal completed, he is expected to be back with the Raiders during offseason workouts. The franchise held voluntary minicamp two weeks ago with OTAs slated to open on May 19 and minicamp set for June 10-12.
