Brittany Cartwright shared more details on Jax Taylor’s “scary” incident, and she revealed the alleged real reason he went to rehab. The Valley star also called his interest in her love life “strange,” and she accused him of “narcissism.”
Last year, after Brittany filed for divorce, Jax allegedly had several “rage” incidents upon discovering Brittany’s relationship with his friend Julian Sensley. At one point, he yelled at her in a car ride to the doctor. In another, he flipped a coffee table. Earlier this year, Jax shared that he’s now sober from cocaine and alcohol after going to rehab.
On the Misspelling podcast, Brittany addressed the rage incident with Jax.
“It got really bad. He flipped the coffee table. My knee turned black immediately because it, like, flipped right up on me,” she said, via @breakingtherulespodclips on Instagram. “And then he threw both bar stools. He broke my iPad. He broke my cell phone. He broke my Stanley cup. He threw Cruz’s food everywhere.”
She hinted that he punched holes in walls, which was an “ongoing” issue.
“It was really scary,” said Brittany, who shared that this wasn’t the first time such an incident took place. “It was just the breaking point.”
At one point in the podcast, Brittany denied Jax’s claim that he decided to go to rehab after looking at his son’s face while yelling at Brittany in the car.
“That’s not true,” she said, via @vanderpodrecaps on Instagram. “I called his sister [amid the incident]. I called his publicist, his manager, and [producer] Alex Baskin. And I got everybody combined joining teams with me that he needed to get help. I put my foot down, and I was like, if he does not go to rehab, I’m going to have to do something.”
“The cops were going to be called if he did not at least go and try to get help. And I think like 100 percent he wouldn’t have went at that time because he was still in denial,” she said. “I think if his job wasn’t on the line, he wouldn’t have went.”
But Brittany shared that Jax is now sober, so “some goodness” has come out of it all. She then addressed, however, the “ups and downs.”
“One day he’s completely fine. And then the [next] day he is just in a rage,” she said, via @realityops on Instagram. “He thinks that if I’m nice to him sometimes, that we’re going to be like best friends again and we’re just going to be able to be a big happy family and hang out … and then the very next day, it’s just like, whoosh. [He’s asking me,] ‘Who are you talking to? … What guy?'”
“He’s so concerned with who is in my life and who I’m talking to,” she said. “And it’s just strange after we’ve been separated for over a year and a half.”
Brittany then called him a narcissist, saying, “Even whenever he was in the first rehab facility, they were like … ‘We can try to treat depression, we can try to treat bipolar, but his narcissism can’t be treated.’ They straight up said that to me.”
