In shocking news, a fan-favorite of the Real Housewives of Miami has passed away over the weekend. 2019 has already been an upsetting year in celebrity deaths, and her passing does not make it any easier!
In a statement released by the family, the star "passed away over the Mother's Day weekend after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and close friends."
The short-lived series of the Real Housewives of Miami aired from 2011-2013, but that didn't stop us from falling in love with some of their most iconic characters.
Elsa Patton, mother of RHOM star Marysol Patton, passed away in Miami. She was 84 at her time of death.
Known affectionately as "Mama Elsa," Elsa was known for her more memorable moments. She often referred to herself as a witch, and was full of hilarious one-liners.
Her struggles with her health became public during the final season of RHOM in 2013, but she seemed to have been recovering well.
Mama Elsa's death comes after her husband's of 50 years, who passed away in February 2018. She is survived by her two children and one grandchild.
Members of the Bravo community, including Andy Cohen, are also currently mourning the loss of this iconic woman.
Cohen gave his "Mazel of the day" shoutout to Mama Elsa, saying that "rarely has someone's spirit, humor, and wisdom made such an indelible impression as Elsa's did." He then posted a video of some of his favorite moments from the matriarch.
