Real Housewives of Dallas alum D’Andra Simmons has shared the deeply personal news that she’s been diagnosed with breast cancer.

In a candid Instagram post, D’Andra explained why she waited to speak out:

“I didn’t think I would be the recipient of care at the UTSW Simmons Cancer Center—founded by my uncle Harold Simmons almost 30 years ago—but now I have breast cancer.”

The Hard Night Good Morning CEO revealed she’s the third woman on her mother’s side to face the disease. But she’s determined to add “breast cancer survivor” to her life story.

This morning, D’Andra is undergoing two procedures. First, a seed localization to mark the tumor for removal.

Then, a separate procedure to locate and remove affected lymph nodes.
