Braunwyn Windham-Burke opened up about the nature of her relationship with girlfriend Fernanda Rocha during an Instagram Live appearance this week.
Following her sudden exit from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Braunwyn admitted that she and Fernanda, who appeared on the series’ sixth season, aren’t exclusive before opening up about her drama with Kelly Dodd, the “produced” scenes of RHOC, and her thoughts on Steve Lodge‘s run for governor.
“We’re dating, [but] we’re not exclusive, she’s getting out of a marriage too, we really love spending time together,” Braunwyn said on the July 7 episode of S’More Date on Instagram, adding, “I’m married and I’m single and I’m dating.”
As for her husband, Sean Burke, Braunwyn confirmed he’s “dating other people too” and noted that they are not making any long-term plans for a divorce.
“We’re just taking it day by day…we get along as family, we get along as friends, we don’t have to live together,” she explained.
Following the announcement regarding Braunwyn’s exit from RHOC, Kelly accused her of “singlehandedly” ruining the show with her “phony” storylines and blamed her for both of their firings. In response, Braunwyn said on S’More Date that she finds Kelly’s accusations “more humorous than anything else.”
“There was so much sh-t thrown out there that wasn’t true, I’m bummed I don’t get to clear it up,” she added.
Although Braunwyn wishes she could have returned to the show for season 16, she admitted that things on the show weren’t always as they seemed and said that “a lot” was taken out of context.
“It’s a TV show, and it’s edited, it’s produced, we are turned into characters,” she claimed. “They geared me to a certain light, my cast members [lied] a lot about me, [and] they never gave me a chance to explain it.”
Braunwyn also accused producers of conning her into her vow renewal with Sean.
“I didn’t want to go, I almost canceled it. And when I was in my confessional… [It wasn’t] how I actually felt that day. We were not getting along. When you’re in [the confessionals] you’re just like, ‘Tell me what to say.’ It’s produced,” she alleged.
Also during the interview, Braunwyn was asked for her thoughts on Steve, the fiancé of Vicki Gunvalson, who announced his run for governor of California last month.
“I thought it was hilarious when someone sent it to me — obviously we are opposed in our beliefs, so obviously I wouldn’t vote for him but I find it hilarious. Have a dream, go for it!” she proclaimed.
On the heels of Braunwyn and Kelly’s departures, Heather Dubrow was brought back to the show. And, while Braunwyn may not know the former cast member well, she admitted she’s “a good Housewife.”
“She’s iconic, she’s aspirational, she has all the qualities a Housewife is supposed to have,” Braunwyn noted.
The Real Housewives of Orange County season 16 is expected to begin filming sometime this month.
