Brandi Glanville is sharing why she cut ties with former friend Kim Richards following her reported relapse.
Weeks after Kim, 60, was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold after allegedly being found “incoherent” at the Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles last month, the 51-year-old Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum revealed why she ended their relationship as she expressed hope for Kim to get the help she needs amid her ongoing struggles with addiction.
“This makes me sad but ultimately it’s what Kim needs,” Brandi recently told Celebuzz. “Her addiction issues caused the end of our friendship. I hope she finally gets the help she has needed for so long.”
Following the news of Kim’s hospitalization, it was reported that her family, including sisters Kyle Richards, 55, and Kathy Hilton, 65, had reached their “breaking point” with Kim’s “reliance on alcohol.”
“It particularly weighs heavily on Kyle, who has always been the worrier of the family. She does her best to take care of Kim — and essentially bankrolls Kim’s life, with Kathy [Hilton] — but never knows where the line goes between helping and enabling,” an insider told PEOPLE.
“The family is very private about details, but from the little they’ve said, it’s clear they’ve reached another breaking point with her,” they added.
Days later, Kathy addressed her sister’s health crisis.
“We love her and we support her, and that’s all I can say,” she told PEOPLE, adding that when it comes to Kim getting better, “There’s always hope.”
Kyle has spoken out about Kim’s situation as well, recently telling Page Six that she was doing what she could to support her sister in a healthy manner.
“We are a family, [so] when something’s going on with one of us, we all sort of stick together and circle around each other and try to be there and lift each other up,” she shared. “So that’s what I’ve been trying to do.”
Although the family is going through hard times with Kim, their situation may get even harder with the upcoming premiere of RHOBH season 14 as the new episodes are expected to touch on the topic.
“Of course, you never want to show the most difficult parts of your life, but I don’t have that luxury,” Kyle explained. “It’s unfortunate for me, but for the audience, they get to see that.”
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills season 14 premieres on Bravo this fall.
