An NHL Insider has reported thatArtemi Panarin's 1st-NHL team, the Chicago Blackhawks, could be in on a massive deal that returns him home to the Windy City, where his career started. Could GM Chris Drury send Artemi Panarin back to Chicago as a rental with a haul of assets in return?![Artemi Panarin]()
The New York Rangers aren't shying away from trading anybody. If we know how ruthless GM Chris Drury is when it comes to his job, well, all you have to do is remember Barclay Goodrow and Jacob Trouba.
With a retool on the horizon, the Rangers will need to ship out players who could return a nice haul in prospects, NHLers, or draft picks.
Though GM Chris Drury would like to return to the playoffs, shipping out all of your core players could mean the idea of "win-now" is over with.
A possible return to the playoffs could happen down the road, that is, depending on whether or not Drury can find the right pieces, and moving Artemi Panarin might be a piece in that puzzle of doing so.
At least, according to David Pagnotta, who suggests the Rangers touch base with GM Kyle Davidson and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Panarin's NHL career started in Chicago with the Blackhawks, and while that happened toward the end of their dynastic run, wouldn't it be fun to see him rejoin Chicago as it gears up to try to return with Connor Bedard?
Chicago tried to speed up the process to get back to the playoffs last summer by surrounding Bedard and other young prospects with veteran players and out of all of them, only Ryan Donato seemed to really work out well. He wound up being their only 30-goal scorer while three other Chicago players had 20-or-more. In short, they need offense badly and Panarin would help address that.

Artemi Panarin began his career in Chicago in 2015 and won the Calder Trophy there. He'd been shipped off to the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2017 in return for Anton Forsberg and Brandon Saad, in typical Stan Bowman fashion.
He'd eventually, in 2019, sign with the New York Rangers and become the team's top forward.
However, six years into the relationship, a Stanley Cup hasn't been won, and Drury is pondering the future.
Would it be best to send him back to where it all began, and become a top piece in the Blackhawks lineup once again?
The Blackhawks have the prospects and assets to get it done.
