Below Deck Down Under Season 3 Rumors, Explained

Below Deck Down Under has been one of the most buzzed-about shows in the Bravo-sphere, and after a year-long absence, there are several rumors about the show that have viewers hopeful for its return. Throughout the course of Below Deck’s franchise history, there have been several series to come out, some more successful than others. With Below Deck originating the franchise, Below Deck Mediterranean joined its parent show quickly, along with Below Deck Sailing Yacht. While there have been some less popular iterations of the series, the majority of Below Deck spin-offs have been popular throughout the franchise's large fanbase.

While the Below Deck franchise has been a success for Bravo, some shows have done better than others. Below Deck Down Under, which premiered in 2022, has only had a few seasons to prove itself to the Bravo audiences. After a solid first season, the show returned for Below Deck Down Under season 2, which became a popular sophomore effort. Bringing new viewers to the series, Below Deck Down Under season 2 featured an incredibly riveting, but difficult-to-watch storyline. When there was an act of sexual misconduct on board, the crew snapped into action, showing what they were capable of.

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Below Deck Down Under Was Rumored To Have Ended

Many Thought The Show Was Over

Although it appears that the opposite is true, many Below Deck viewers were convinced that Bravo had quietly canceled Below Deck Down Under. After Below Deck Down Under season 2 was difficult for some to stomach, the future of the spin-off was left up in the air for quite some time. When Bosun Luke Jones attempted to sexually assault Margot Sisson in her bunk after a crew night out, the typically light tone of the series became frightfully serious. Luke was quickly terminated from the crew when Aesha Scott, a Below Deck legend and the charter’s Chief Stew, reported him.

After the difficulties of Below Deck Down Under season 2 had played out on screen, many were curious about the show’s fate. Although Aesha moved on to another Below Deck charter, there were other yachties involved in the crew that many were interested in seeing again. While there was no official word about the end of the show, some were convinced that because of the dark nature of the end of the season, Below Deck Down Under wouldn’t return for another season.

After months of speculation that Below Deck Down Under season 3 wouldn’t be happening, there was finally some movement surrounding the series in recent weeks. According to one user on Reddit, the show was being filmed months ago in La Digue, Seychelles. User u/stingyboy shared, “Walking along Anse Source D'Argent yesterday and came across the crew…the cameramen had hats with Below Deck written on the back.” While the user wasn’t able to tell which franchise was filming in their location, the sleuths on Reddit quickly deduced that it was Below Deck Down Under season 3.

Even with reports that the show was filming, many weren’t convinced that it would be returning to the regular lineup. After the scandal of Below Deck Down Under season 2, some believed that even if a season was being filmed, it may not be released to the public. Even so, the fact that Captain Jason and his crew were out on a charter with guests was an exciting development for many Below Deck viewers. With location information available, it became more of a possibility that Below Deck Down Under would be returning.

While there was some misinformation spreading about Below Deck Down Under season 3, things became far more clear about the season when the network opened up about its plans for the series. According to NBC Universal’s Vice President of Unscripted Content, Noah Samton, shared that while there’s been some speculation about the end of the show, it’s currently filming and will be returning for another season soon. With actual confirmation that Below Deck Down Under is set to return, viewers are able to relax a bit and get excited about what’s to come.

Noah, who shared that Below Deck is one of the most successful franchises on the network, made it clear that Below Deck Down Under season 3 will likely be somewhat different than what viewers have seen before. While Below Deck audiences can expect the typical style for the series, there are some fun and interesting changes coming to the next season of the show. Below Deck Down Under May Feature Returning Crew Members

Some Cast Members Have Been Spotted Filming

Below Deck Down Under's Harry Van Vliet

Though the majority of the cast of Below Deck Down Under season 3 will be new to the show, there are a few cast members who have been rumored to be returning to the series. With viewers having looked out for the cast after finding out they’d be filming, many noticed that there were two former Below Deck Down Under crew members who appeared to be absent from social media during the filming schedule. Deckhand Harry van Vliet and Chef Tzarina Mace-Ralph will likely be returning for Below Deck Down Under season 3, as both were viewer favorites last season.

While Chef Tzarina struggled during some aspects of the charter season, she was great at taking feedback and moving through her criticism easily. Many were hopeful they’d see her on another version of Below Deck if she didn’t return to Below Deck Down Under for another charter season. As for Harry, the Deckhand was a bright spot throughout the season, especially for his friendship with Margot. Though the pair were speculated to be more romantic, they’ve kept their relationship platonic and have shown strong support for one another.

Below Deck Down Under Will Be Missing A Key Crew Member

The Charter’s Chief Stew Isn’t Coming Back

While there are two cast members who appear to be returning to Below Deck Down Under for another season, one of the major cast members of the series won’t be joining in on the third charter season for the crew. Though Aesha cut her chops as Chief Stew on Below Deck Down Under, she’s moved back to Below Deck Mediterranean season 9 to work under Captain Sandy again. Aesha could return to Below Deck Down Under in the future, but unless there’s a surprise in the works, she won’t be on the upcoming season of the series.
