The new season of Summer House might have featured influencer Serena Kerrigan and Siesta Key star Juliette Porter — but the show decided to go in a different direction.
On Monday, June 23, Kerrigan, 31, admitted on Gia Giudice’s “Casual Chaos” podcast that she was approached to join season 10 of Summer House.
“Did they offer and I turned it down? No. I jumped on a call with them,” she explained, adding that she went through an interview process. “I definitely entertained it. They asked me for [Real] Housewives too. I’m like, ‘I’m not a Housewife but for the plot.’”
The social media star, who has nearly 600,000 followers on TikTok, went on to explain that her decision to turn down the offers had to do with her mom working in unscripted TV while she was growing up.
“I saw the behind-the-scenes a lot and I think that it is a scary thing when you’re on these shows … you don’t have control over your edit,” she shared, noting that it “would be really fun,” but she’s “too sensitive” for it.
Porter, 27, also shared on Monday, June 23, that she was previously in talks with Summer House producers.
“My old producer on Siesta Key was the casting director last year for Summer House. I did a whole Summer House interview,” Porter, who starred on Siesta Key from 2017 to 2023, said on “The Toast” podcast. “It took me like, three, hours. They didn’t go with me.”
The reality star shared she doesn’t “know why” they didn’t go for her.
“Maybe they didn’t like me or maybe I had already been in this world,” she revealed. “And I think they went with Lexi [Wood] instead. I don’t know if that’s how it worked.”
Summer House follows a group of friends who share a house on the weekends in the summer. Season 9, which premiered in February, starred Kyle Cooke, Amanda Batula, Paige DeSorbo, Lindsay Hubbard, Ciara Miller, Gabby Prescod, Carl Radke, Jesse Solomon, West Wilson, Imrul Hassan and Wood, 27.
While the Bravo series has been renewed for season 10, several cast members have confirmed that they will not be returning, including DeSorbo, 32, who has appeared on the show for seven seasons.
“I have a little life update for you: I’ve made the decision not to return to Summer House,” she shared via Instagram Stories earlier this month. “Being a part of this show has been one of the most rewarding chapters of my life — the friendships, the drama, the giggles, all unforgettable. You’ve seen me grow up over these last seven summers. I’ll always be beyond grateful for the memories, the community, and the opportunities this wild ride has brought me. But like all good things (and some bad decisions), it’s time for this chapter to close.”
