Dianne Buswell has revealed a secret project she worked out when she returned home to Australia earlier this year as she took on a new role away from the Strictly Come Dancing ballroom.
The dancer is still riding high from winning the BBC One dance contest last year alongside celebrity dance partner Chris McCausland. The pair made history when they lifted the Glitterball trophy back in December, with Chris being the show's first-ever blind contestant.
Their winning streak has since continued as last weekend, they were confirmed as the winners of the 'memorable moment' gong at the 2025 Bafta Television Awards with P&O Cruises.
They were nominated in the only public-voted category at the prestigious event for their stunning Waltz to Liverpool anthem, You'll Never Walk Alone, in which Dianne left Chris on the dancefloor to perform on his own for a brief moment before they came back together to finish the tear-jerking performance.
Accepting their award, Dianne said on stage: "In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability, all in that one minute 30." She added: "This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I’m just so thrilled that we have this."
Dianne mentioned that Chris had prepped her with something to say on his behalf just in case they won as she said: "Chris did have something he wanted me to say, and that is ‘After 22 years in comedy, he wins a Bafta for dancing,"' before joking that he said it "hurts".
Now, it's been revealed that Dianne is appearing in a new role away from the ballroom - but she's still very much dancing. The BBC has announced a new digital series, Bluey Dancealongs, which sees Dianne choreograph and star in a series of five dance videos, each of which will feature a song from the hugely popular kids show.
The videos will also each take place in a different location within Bluey’s World, where Dianne will be joined by young fans of the show.
The episodes – which will be between one and three minutes long – will be released on a weekly basis from Thursday (May 15), so Bluey fans will soon have five new dance routines in their repertoire.
Dianne said in a statement: "How cool that I got to go to Bluey’s World in Australia to dance in Bluey’s house with some incredibly talented kids dancing to some of Bluey’s favourite tunes.
"I love the message that Bluey sends out, to not just kids but grown-ups too. I can't wait to see everybody trying the dance moves at home and joining in the party."
Meanwhile BBC Studios' senior vide president of Digital, Jasmine Dawson, said she was "thrilled" to be launching the new series.
She added: "Partnering with the incredible Dianne Buswell to create these joyful, accessible dance routines perfectly captures the spirit of Bluey — fun and family – and we’re looking forward to seeing fans everywhere get moving and join in the fun, no matter where they are."
