BBC Strictly Come Dancing fans spot Dianne Buswell's subtle tribute in winning Bafta TV Awards appearance - suong

Fans think they have spotted Dianne Buswell's subtle tribute as she picked up a special gong, months after winning Strictly Come Dancing alongside Chris McCausland in spectacular scenes.

As we know, the comedian and the professional dancer were paired together for the 20th-anniversary series of the BBC One dance contest back in September and after three months they made it through to the final where they were crowned the 2024 series champions.

‌They were seen facing competition from fellow finalists Miranda actress Sarah Hadland and partner Vito Coppola, Love Island star Tasha Ghouri and dancer Aljaz Skorjanec and JLS singer JB Gill and partner Lauren Oakley to lift the famous Glitterball trophy.

Now they have got another win under their belt as on Sunday (May 11) the reigning Strictly champions won the memorable moment award at the Bafta Television Awards 2025, which is voted for by the public.

The dance show's winning couple's Waltz to the Liverpool anthem You'll Never Walk Alone was the performance that earned them the nomination.

The magical performance, which they recreated during the Strictly 2024 final back in December, saw Dianne leave the ballroom floor so her partner could dance on his own before she returned to spinning in his arms moments later in tear-jerking scenes.

Accepting their award, Dianne said on stage: "In one minute and 30 seconds of a dance, I feel like this told such a story. A story of hope, determination, resilience and vulnerability, all in that one minute 30."

She added: “This moment meant so much to the both of us, so I’m just so thrilled that we have this."

Amid her appearance at the awards, which she attended alongside her boyfriend Joe Sugg, who she also met on Strictly in 2018, Strictly fans couldn't help but notice Dianne's special tribute as she dazzled in a sparkling blue halterneck gown.

They were quick to point out the blue matched that she wore during their now award-winning performance. Makeup artist Jessie O'Leary shared pictures of Dianne on Instagram which was quickly flooded with comments.

@tamsin_niven said: "What a beautiful dress! it’s giving the waltz vibes which is so fitting for the occasion!"

@rebekahleonard commented: "I’m wondering if this is a nod to the dress they won strictly in ? Same colours and feel!!"

@bowe.stefan added: "Very clever as it mirrors the performance dress. A class act."
