The team reactivated the captain from LTIR on Monday. This latest development makes it more likely that he could be returning to the lineup for Game 2 at American Airlines Center.
Landeskog, 32, has not played since June 26, 2022, the night the Avalanche won the Stanley Cup championship in Tampa Bay. He was assigned to the AHL for a conditioning stint with the Colorado Eagles almost two weeks ago and appeared in two games in two nights. Since then, Landeskog has been back with the NHL club as a regular participant in practice.
If Landeskog returns, it’ll likely be on the third line in the spot occupied by Ross Colton in Game 1. Colton suffered a lower-body injury and only played one shift in the third period. The Avs went on to win that game 5-1, taking a 1-0 series lead.
