Olausson dressed in each of the first two preseason games, finishing with one assist and four shots while averaging 15:09 in ice time.
This was perhaps his best chance to crack the roster given some of the names the team will start the season without. But the 21-year-old struggled to stick out and has seemingly been passed up by both 19-year-old Calum Ritchie and 24-year-old Nikolai Kovalenko.
Olausson had a good season with the Colorado Eagles in the AHL last year, scoring 11 goals and adding nine assists in 39 games. But he only got into one game with the Avs.
It’s no saying where his career goes from here, but it’s safe to say that he let a good opportunity slip. Olausson will join the Eagles training camp.
Other Roster Cuts:
D, Jacob MacDonald (on waivers)
LW, Chase Bradley
LW, Tye Felhaber
LW, Nikita Prishchepov
