Ashton Jeanty Sends Clear Message to Raiders Amid Draft Rumors - suong

As the 2025 NFL Draft nears, more and more mock drafts are projecting the Las Vegas Raiders to select Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty with the No. 6 pick. Taking a running back that high would be out of character for head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.

The Seattle Seahawks used a first-round pick on a running back once when Carroll was there but that was at No. 27, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers didn't draft a running back in the first round while Spytek was in the building.

However, Jeanty is one of the best running back prospects to come out of college in years and could justify a high draft pick.

Spytek was the only general manager to show up to Jeanty's Boise State Pro Day. The running back was asked about the Raiders and he certainly seems interested in joining the franchise.

"Great organization," Jeanty told reporters when asked about the Raiders. "They got a few pieces. I know they could use a running back. They got that nice pick No. 6 so we'll see what happens. But it's been great meeting with them, meeting with their running backs coach. ... It's cool that he came all this way to meet with me."

The fact that Spytek was at the Pro Day is a strong sign that the Raiders are at least considering drafting Jeanty in the first round. Though it's rare for running backs to get drafted in the top 10, the Raiders have a huge need at the position and Jeanty could be an instant impact player.
