Was unfair editing used to pin Ashley Jacobs as the Southern Charm villain of season five?
According to a recent report, Thomas Ravenel‘s girlfriend traveled to New York City to film the season five reunion special in an effort to set the record straight about her true self and her relationship.
“[Ashley] was really happy to be able to finally set the record straight about her feelings,” an insider explained to People about why she chose to film the reunion without Thomas. “She’s glad she was at the reunion and able to defend him on his behalf.”
Following recent episodes of the show, Ashley faced backlash from her co-stars due to her poor treatment of Kathryn Dennis, the mother of Thomas’ two kids, four-year-old Kensington and two-year-old Saint Julien. Still, the insider insists her villain persona is nothing more than the result of bad edits.
“She’s been unfairly edited all season and painted as a crazy person, while Kathryn — who was instigating a lot of the drama, was made to look like a saint,” the source explained. “Everyone ganged up on her all year long. Watching it back has been heartbreaking… She’s being harassed online. She’s received death threats. People are terrible, flooding her Twitter and Instagram with insults and negativity.”
On a recent episode, Ashley was seen berating Kathryn in front of their co-stars and accusing her of being a bad mom. She even suggested she was more involved in Thomas’ kids’ lives than Kathryn before being labeled as “disgusting” and “crazy” by Naomi Olindo.
As for her relationship with Thomas, who is currently being investigated for a couple of sexual assaults, the source said the couple is going strong.
“Ashley loves Thomas — the two of them have a great bond,” the insider added. ‘Their relationship is stronger than ever, even among these allegations. No matter what Thomas may have done in his past, that doesn’t change the way she looks at him. She knows he has a history, but she’s interested in their future. Their relationship is the real deal.”
Although Thomas has denied the allegations against him, via his attorney, rumors continue to swirl in regard to his potential firing from Southern Charm, especially after the network chose to leave him out of the reunion.
Following her trip to the Big Apple, Ashley reunited with Thomas in South Carolina and shared a photo of the two of them cuddling on her Instagram page.
