Andy Cohen is stepping into the “Love Island USA” villa as the newest addition to the show’s highly anticipated reunion special.
The “Watch What Happens Live” host will team up with Ariana Madix to co-host the Season 7 reunion, bringing his signature reunion hosting expertise to the dating reality series. The special event is scheduled to premiere on Peacock on Monday, August 25 at 9 p.m. ET and 6 p.m. PT, according to Deadline.
Cohen brings extensive experience hosting explosive reunion specials across the Bravo network, including all “Real Housewives” franchises, “Southern Charm,” “Summer House,” and “Below Deck.” He has also previously hosted reunion specials for Peacock’s “The Traitors,” making this his first venture into the “Love Island USA” universe. The collaboration is a significant moment for the dating series, as Madix had previously hosted the Season 6 reunion solo.
Season 7 has proven to be a massive success for Peacock, ranking as the number one streaming reality title for five consecutive weeks. This has made this the show’s biggest season yet. Over 40% of this season’s audience consists of new “Love Island” viewers, an example of the series’ expanding reach, according to Deadline.
The current season has hit major milestones that highlight how the show has become must-watch TV. Peacock reports that Season 7 has generated the platform’s biggest mobile audience ever for an entertainment series. Over 30% of usage occurred on mobile devices, according to the outlet.
The reunion special will feature this season’s winners, Amaya Espinal and Bryan Arenales, along with fan-favorite couples and memorable contestants from throughout the season. Expected attendees include Chelley Bissainthe, Ace Greene, Iris Kendall, Pepe García, Huda Mustafa, Chris Seeley, Olandria Carthen, and Nic Vansteenberghe, among others.
The finale on Sunday, July 13, concluded with four couples competing for the title, including Chris Seeley and Huda Mustafa, Iris Kendall and Pepe Garcia, and Nic Vansteenberghe and Olandria Carthen, alongside the winning pair.
Social media response to Cohen’s involvement has been mixed. Some viewers expressed excitement about his proven track record with dramatic reunion shows. However, others worry about the direction of the series. The announcement has sparked conversations about whether “Love Island USA” is shifting toward a more confrontational reunion format similar to other reality shows Cohen hosts.
This season has faced several challenges that required careful handling from both the production team and host Madix. The season experienced early disruptions when contestants left the villa due to controversies surrounding past social media posts that contained racial slurs.
Yulissa Escobar departed after two episodes when podcast clips surfaced showing her using inappropriate language. She later issued a public apology stating: “I want to apologize for using a word I had no right in using…I used it ignorantly, not fully understanding the weight… Intention doesn’t excuse impact.”
Later in the season, Cierra Ortega left for “personal reasons” following online backlash over a resurfaced social media post. Both situations required Madix to emphasize the importance of respectful behavior both on and off the show.
Madix has consistently advocated for kindness throughout the season, addressing viewer behavior during episodes of the aftershow. “Don’t be contacting people’s families. Don’t be doxxing people,” she urged viewers during a June episode of “Love Island: Aftersun,” according to Us Magazine. “Don’t be going on Islanders’ pages and saying rude things.”
The host emphasized the importance of appreciating contestants’ vulnerability, stating: “We should be thanking each one of these islanders every single day for giving us themselves.”
During the season finale weekend, Madix became emotional while reflecting on the challenges faced throughout the season. “It’s been a really tough season for a lot of reasons,” she shared on the Saturday, July 12 episode of “Aftersun.” “I just want them to know, and any Islander who has also left the villa at this point, I just want them all to know how much I genuinely really love them and appreciate them for putting themselves out there.”
Looking ahead, Madix will continue her hosting duties with “Love Island Games” Season 2, premiering Tuesday, September 16. The show will feature returning contestants competing in challenges while navigating dating and elimination twists.
