Andy Cohen is always ready to put on a show.
The Bravo personality, 56, guest hosted The Kelly Clarkson Show on Wednesday, March 19, and took the opportunity to address a past onscreen blunder. After Willie Geist, who was also a recent guest host on the talk show, claimed he “absolutely destroyed” Cohen on Lip Sync Battle, Cohen decided it was time to prove himself.
“I was not too psyched about something that happened about a week ago on this broadcast,” Cohen joked. “Willie did do a song by LL Cool J, and shouldn't that be considered cheating since the show was hosted by LL Cool J? Was Willie gonna lose? I did Cher's 'I Found Someone.' It was good, not great. And I did 'Working for the Weekend' by Loverboy, which I stand behind, okay?”
“Here's the rub,” he continued. “LL Cool J hosted Lip Sync Battle, right? Well, the other host of Lip Sync Battle is backstage right now. I have a chance to redeem myself for Chrissy Teigen, who's backstage. Should I take the chance to do it? Band, can you help me out?”
Cohen then lip-synced a rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s hit song, “Since U Been Gone," ironically chosen at the same time as her unexplained absence from the show. At one point, he even mouthed entirely wrong lyrics, but it still landed him with a standing ovation from the crowd and Teigen.
"You know what? I raw-dogged that,” he laughed after. “I freestyled it a little bit, so mixed results.”
Fans in the comments proceeded to share their reactions to the hilarious performance. “Andy is such a deeply unserious person,” one user wrote. “Next, please.”
“👏👏👏Good for you Andy! You didn't miss one word! You did Kelly proud!” another commented sarcastically, poking fun at Cohen.
Someone else pointed out that since the show is typically hosted by a Grammy winner, the band is probably “really not used to lip syncing 😂.”
Others, however, truly seemed to enjoy it: “Okay, this is the best thing I have watched in a while 😂😂”
