Andy Cohen’s $12 million New York City “dream” apartment sold to a two-time Emmy-winning actor and writer with ties to Gilmore Girls and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.

Danny Strong and his fiancée, actor and producer Caitlin Mehner, told The New York Post that they are making a deal for the spacious West Village apartment that Cohen extensively refurbished over a 21-year span.

“Andy’s apartment is my dream home. We are so excited to be moving there,” Strong, 50, confirmed.

Strong and Mehner’s deal for the property is expected to close this month, though an exact final price has yet to be publicly announced. It was previously reported that Million Dollar Listing New York star Ryan Serhant put Cohen’s apartment on market in September 2024 for $14 million, but its price was reportedly slashed by $2 million before it sold in May.

Cohen, 57, and architect Gordon Kahn meticulously redesigned the 300-square-foot space by combining three additional units. The finished apartment features three bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms, a den area, two wood-burning fireplaces and a bar. Other amenities include a steam room, cobalt bespoke cabinets in the kitchen and a bright red powder room entry space.

Strong’s purchase comes at the perfect time because he’s reworking the script of ABBA stars Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus’ 1980s musical Chess ahead of its Broadway revival later this year. Lea Michele and Aaron Tveit are attached to star in the revamped version of Chess.

Strong played Paris Geller’s boyfriend Doyle McMaster on Gilmore Girls as well as the wannabe superhero Jonathan Levinson on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. He also appeared in Mad Men as aspiring ad executive Danny Siegel, in addition to guest starring on Grey’s AnatomySeinfeld and How I Met Your Mother.

While Strong may be primarily known as an actor, he cowrote the two-part finale of the Hunger Games film series and cocreated the Fox TV drama Empire with Lee Daniels.

As for Cohen, he has already secured a new 3,000-square-foot apartment in the West Village for $18 million. The Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen host told People in November 2024 that the only reason he was selling his “dream” apartment was because he needed more outdoor space for his two children, son Benjamin, 6, and daughter Lucy, 3

“Outdoor space was the decision! I always have coveted outdoor space,” he said. “There is a dearth of inventory in the West Village with outdoor space. So when I found something that was meaningful enough for me to leave my dream apartment, which is where I’m living now — my apartment that I built and spent so many years building — that’s what it took.”

WWHL fans who are interested in emulating Cohen’s personal style are in luck because he’s selling some of his furniture. Cohen partnered with online marketplace 1stDibs to celebrate Pride Month with a 10-piece furniture collection that he personally curated.

Profits from the limited-time sale – which runs through June 30 – will benefit the non-profit advocacy group Housing Works.

“1stDibs is proud to support Housing Works with a donation towards their mission to provide funding and lifesaving services to those affected by HIV/AIDS and homelessness,” 1stDibs exclusively told Us Weekly in May.
