Andy Cohen dealt with a little parenting drama on Father’s Day. His 6-year-old son, Ben, was not happy that his dad went out to dinner with pal John Mayer on Sunday night. Cohen shared the funny story during his radio show “Andy Cohen Live” with co-host John Hill on June 16.
Cohen explained that Ben was super angry that he wasn’t invited to he and Mayer’s dinner, even though it was pretty late. “… I was going out at his bedtime, so like, he wasn’t missing anything,” the “Watch What Happens Live” host said.
Ben was so mad, he had to come up with a suitable punishment for his dad. “…he revoked my Father’s Day card, which he had made for me,” Cohen said. “He took it away from me.”
Ben might have been overacting just a bit, as Cohen also shared that the family, including Lucy, 3, had spent all of Father’s Day together. “We celebrated all day. There was 10 minutes left in his day,” Cohen told Hill.

According to Cohen, Ben’s anger didn’t last very long. As soon as Mayer showed up, he won Ben over completely. “John melted him,” Cohen said. “John was singing to him. Ben was sitting there smiling. I was like, ‘Oh, okay. … All’s good.”
Cohen and Mayer have been close friends for years, sparking rumors that maybe there was something romantic between them. But Cohen wasn’t bothered by the speculation.
“Let them speculate! I honestly love John Mayer, and he loves me,” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “…we’re so affectionate toward each other, people don’t know what box to put that in. They assume we’re sleeping with each other, which we are most definitely not.”
How Andy Cohen Keeps His Children Grounded
Cohen is the single dad of Ben and Lucy, who were born via different surrogates but share the same egg donor. Cohen, 57, has been open in the past about the ways in which he keeps his two kids grounded in light of his fame. “I just try to teach them values, I have very strict boundaries and rules,” he told Us Weekly.
But the family has a lot of fun together too, and enjoys a sweet dynamic. “They do get along really well,” Cohen said of Ben and Lucy. “Ben’s really protective of her…they’re very cute together.”
