Adam Schefter Reveals Significant Update on Antonio Pierce's Future With Raiders - suong

The chances of Raiders head coach Antonio Pierce being one-and-done as the full-time head coach continue to rise.

The latest fuel added to the fire came from ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter during his appearance on "The Pat McAfee Show."

"Mark Davis had the chance to stand behind Antonio Pierce at the owners' meetings and he didn't," Schefter said Monday. "It didn't sound like he is an absolute lock to be back with the Raiders at all."

Just last week, Davis was asked about the pairing of Pierce and general manager Tom Telesco would be evaluated separately and noted that they "didn't come together as a team."

Raiders coach Antonio Pierce addresses the Davante Adams rumors ahead of the Week 5 Denver Broncos matchup.

The Raiders enter Monday Night Football with a 2-11 record, having lost nine straight following a 2-2 start that included a Week 2 win over the 9-5 Baltimore Ravens. Davis has expressed sheer disappointment with how the season has unfolded and hasn't exactly given a ringing endorsement on Pierce, who was given the full-time job after going 5-4 as interim head coach in 2023, including a road win over the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Day.

Perhaps Davis is waiting until the regular season is over, but with each passing day, the writing seems to be on the wall for Pierce.
