82-Year-Old Jerry Jones Just Wants to Create Drama Around Micah Parsons’ Contract Extension, Feels Chris Broussard

The Dallas Cowboys recreated the same situation from a year ago, once again with yet another contract drama during the offseason. The Cowboys suffered greatly last season because of their slow approach to the offseason, finishing third in the division with seven wins.

The general manager and the business-savvy owner, Jerry Jones, is nonchalant about results. The octogenarian was recently accused of adding extra drama and pointless noise as he drags the contractual extension of a key player, Micah Parsons.

In an episode of First Take, host Chris Broussard castigated the business tycoon while laying the accusations on him. Broussard affirmed that there are only three possible reasons as to why Parsons is still not extended by the franchise.

The host put most of his money on the second reason, where he accused the owner of creating drama just for the sake of it. He noted that by messing up the contract extension and dragging it, Jones’ primary goal of ensuring everyone is talking about the Cowboys all offseason long is met. He further added that the vision is not winning the title, as the drama has effectively affected and hurt the Cowboys’ camp.

Second one, and this is the one I hope is true. Okay. And this is the one I tend to go with. He loves the drama. And I have been saying, but now it seems crystal clear. The number one goal is not winning a Super Bowl… The number one goal is to create drama because the drama keeps the Cowboys on the lips of all the TV and radio talking heads.

Broussard also put forth the mental preparedness and lucidity of the 82-year-old as his first reason, while suggesting a possible franchise tag being an option as well.
